The back-and-forth between Ronda Rousey and Floyd Mayweather has been highly amusing, with both using the media to trade barbs publicly. It started in June at the ESPYs when Rousey won “Fighter Of the Year” and delivered this takedown of the boxing champ:
“I wonder how Floyd feels being beaten by a woman for once. I’d like you to pretend you don’t know who I am now.”
It took some time but Mayweather finally figured out who Ronda Rousey was and on Thursday, replied in kind on SportsCenter:
“I just say that, I’ve yet to see any MMA fighter or other boxer make over $300 million in 36 minutes. You know when she can do that? Call me.”
When in doubt, always bring up money. That’s Mayweather’s life motto.
Anyway, Rousey’s camp didn’t respond to Mayweather because a) it’s dumb b) who needs 36 minutes when Ronda needs 36 seconds. Hey-O! Am I right UFC?
Sure, some of this might be manufactured BS and maybe Mayweather and Rousey are laughing behind-the-scenes at all of us. That being said, it’s August. There’s not much else going on in the world of sports. A faux feud between two of the most popular athletes in the world will have to do for now.
