“Baby girl, Jesus was wrong,” Chalky White says in response to a woman who suggests that Jesus said forgiveness is for everyone, a line that makes me absolutely GIDDY about the final season of Boardwalk Empire. Jumping ahead to 1931, the depression, and Al Capone’s final years with real power, the teaser trailer also suggests that Chalky White is going to be spending some time in prison, and that the Onyx is going through hard times. Gillian Darmody is back, Michael Shannon’s Nelson Van Alden, as is Dr. Narcisse and Margaret (who look as though she’s still single-momming it).
The trailer ends with a promise and a threat for the final season: “No one goes quietly.”
