Ariana Grande has been getting all kinds of hate recently for her reported “diva antics” when it comes to awards shows and photo shoots, but that’s not why The Big Bang Theory actress Mayim Bialik is calling out the tiny starlet. Bialik, who is one of the more admittedly conservative A-listers in Hollywood, isn’t a fan of the singer’s racy billboard ads which feature Grande in outfits a little too revealing for the mother of two’s tastes. Bialik took to her Kvellar blog this week to slam Grande, and society in general, for participating in the objectification of women:
There is one for Ariana Grande, and I will go ahead and admit I have no idea who she is or what she does. Based on the billboard, she sells lingerie. Or stiletto heels. Or plastic surgery, because every woman over 22 wishes she has that body, I’m sure. Why is she in her underwear on this billboard though? And if she has a talent (is she a singer?), then why does she have to sell herself in lingerie? I mean, I know that society is patriarchal and women are expected to be sexy and sexually available no matter what we do in society, but I guess now I need to explain that to my sons?
But it’s not just the pint-sized Grande that Bialik calls out in her latest blog post. The star also doesn’t mind criticizing Showtime’s Masters of Sex billboard ads:
Seriously? How am I supposed to explain those to my kids? Especially my older son who can read?
Bazinga!
