A lot of zingers fell flat at this year’s Golden Globes (I’m still cringing at that awkward Jennifer Aniston/Benedict Cumberbatch bit), but Jeremy Renner’s jab at fellow presenter Jennifer Lopez’s cleavage didn’t just fail to get laughs, it won the night’s hard-earned creeper award (to be fair, Bill Cosby wasn’t there so the competition was pretty thin).
To jog your memory, Renner and Lopez stepped up to the mic to present an award early on in the night. The Avengers star chose to comment on J.Lo’s revealing dress by making a quip about her breasts, referring to them as “Globes.” A harmless play on words that didn’t really make a stir with any of the more-than-buzzed celebrities roasting inside the Beverly Hilton Hotel, but viewers at home weren’t so blase about the, er, compliment?
Renner was labeled everything from a “creep” to a “jerk” to a man with the emotional maturity of a fifth grader (Ouch). But don’t worry, Hawkeye isn’t sweatin the haters. The actor took to Twitter to defend his frat boy sense of humor:
A reminder not to take this shit so serious. Thanks Jennifer — You're a gem.x #goldenglobes #hadtosayit #jlo http://t.co/Rg68ZbCIQT
