At one point, many confusing seasons ago, Glee was about the underdog, the little guy/girl who got picked on but it was OK, so long as he/she had a Michael Jackson/Neil Diamond mashup in his/her heart. Now, it’s about dayglo, or something, and creator Ryan Murphy has turned into the bully, pushing away other shows to make room for his own. He’s still got the remaining episodes of Glee, as well as American Horror Story and American Crime Story and maybe a Serial TV show and, oh yeah, Scream Queens, which is like AHS but on network television.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Emma Roberts have already signed on, and now so have:
Lea Michele has joined the cast of Murphy’s next show for FOX, Scream Queens. The horror-comedy anthology has also added True Blood‘s Joe Mangianello, Abigail Breslin (August: Osage County), and Keke Palmer (Masters of Sex).
Pop star Ariana Grande will recur on the show.
Scream Queens is essentially a network-safe, funnier version of American Horror Story, with the plan being to tell a new story each season. The first will center on a college campus where a series of murders takes place. (Via)
So, just to clarify, Ariana Grande will star in a show about KILLERS, created by the guy who’s trying to adapt SERIAL for the small-screen. Her mom was onto something.
