Last week, Fox aired a new teaser trailer for its upcoming X-Files revival series, and voracious fan speculation soon followed. It seems that the promotion ball has officially begun rolling for Chris Carter’s highly anticipated sci-fi series, and where there are trailers, casting announcements are usually soon to follow.
Following in Joel McHale and Kumail Nanjiani’s footsteps, Variety is now reporting that both Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under) and Robbie Amell (The Flash) will show up as FBI agents in one of the show’s new episodes:
Character details were scarce and simply described her Agent Einstein as “sharp” and “confident” and his Agent Miller as “smart” and “smooth.” Despite the actors’ likenesses to “X-Files” stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny — particularly considering Ambrose’s hair color — sources say this will not be a flashback episode, and it will be set in the present day.
As previously reported, Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi), Monica Reyes (Annabeth Gish), and the Smoking Man (William B. Davis) will be returning to the series alongside David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. Chris Carter’s six-episode X-Files revival series is set to premiere on Fox on January 24, 2016.
