One of the worst parts of having a show last for a mere handful of episodes is the wait for nearly a full year before it returns. Fans of American Horror Story know this all too well. But if Ryan Murphy is to be believed, there’s a chance that after American Horror Story: Hotel is over, we won’t have to wait too long for the next creepy installment of the FX anthology. The showrunner told Entertainment Weekly that 2016 might see two new seasons of the show instead of the customary fall offering.
DO NOT LIE TO US, RYAN MURPHY.
Now that I’m done shouting, here is what Murphy said, exactly, and it’s really a hard “maybe” and in no way a sure thing:
“Next year we might do a fall American Horror Story and a spring,” says Murphy. “We have to decide.”
He adds, “We’re doing something that we’ve never done before on the show where we’re doing two different groups of writers rooms. Some of our writers will be bouncing around but a whole different group coming in late August. The next thing we’re crafting up is very, very different than this. Not smaller. But just not opulent. More rogue and more dark.”
That is the most delicious news a horror TV fan could hear, and now the internet will get to speculate on what two new shows could be focused on and how they’ll connect to the rest of the AHS universe. And who will Lily Rabe play, and will Jessica Lange please come back for at least one?
