Well, it looks like Game of Thrones conspiracy theorists can put away their tin hats and accept their victory.

Daily Mail has photos of Kit Harington on set in Belfast, costumed, armed, and looking very much alive. Whether or not Jon Snow would live or die was one of the major cliffhangers at the end of season five’s finale, and the debate has raged online ever since. Whether or not this is Jon Snow, Jon Targaryen, or the reincarnated Azor Ahai remains to be seen, but it’s safe to say that Kit Harington’s job is safe for the time being.
Between this and the fate of Daenerys, two of the biggest plot directions of next season have been illuminated today. Obviously we live in a television culture ruled by spoilers, but honestly, this is kind of a bummer. In our impatience to know everything now, the bloom is already off the rose for the next season a bit, and it is still months away from airing. Did you really want to see these grainy photos revealing the fate of Jon Snow, or would it have been better to wait and see what magic the Thrones creative team has in store? Either way, the cat is out of the bag now, and for better or worse, the mystery of Jon Snow’s fate is revealed. Yay?
