Amy Schumer has had a banner year. Inside Amy Schumer was better than ever, Trainwreck was huge, she opened for Madonna, and totally crushed the Emmys this past weekend. Plus, she’s best friends with Jennifer Lawrence now and is, therefore, living the dream. While she has plenty of detractors, Schumer continues to do her thing and do it well. So what’s next? A memoir, because Schumer is said to have signed a deal for $8-10 million to pen one.
This should come as a surprise to literally no one. Memoirs by female comedians have become extremely popular, and Schumer joins the illustrious ranks of Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling, whose second book, Why Not Me?, was just released to rave reviews. These women were able to successfully translate their unique voices from television scripts to sharp writing on the page, so we’ll see how well Schumer’s voice adapts. She has been up to the task with each new phase of her career until now, so it’s probably safe to assume that it will be a runaway hit.
