If you’ve watched Modern Family over the past few seasons, it’s been difficult not to notice certain, uh… changes to teen actress Ariel Winter, who plays Alex Dunphy, despite the show’s best attempts to cover them up. By 15-years-old, Winter had massive, size F breasts, which not only resulted in online bullying and difficulty finding clothes that fit, but were actually physically painful and made it difficult to do her job.
So two months ago on June 4, Winter underwent a breast reduction surgery, reducing her breast size from a 32-F to a 34-D. Winter gave an interview to Glamour opening up about her decision and she seems happier than ever.
“I remember being in my sister’s wedding and being so flat and thinking, ‘I just wish I would grow boobs!’ and then overnight I did. But then they kept growing and growing and growing and it didn’t seem like they were going to stop.” It’s hard enough being a teenager in life, but being on one of the most popular and critically-acclaimed sitcoms drew heightened interest. “I was 15 years old with [size] F [breasts],” recounts Winter. “It’s like, ‘How do you navigate that?’”
In addition to an accompanying Glamour photoshoot, Winter has posted a few shots on Instagram over the past few weeks and she looks great. Is 17 too young to make a “say goodbye to these” joke? I’d like to think she would find the humor in it.
