There are a lot of things people will miss about President Obama (or not) when he leaves office in 2017. This blogger will miss his prescient roasting of current presidential candidates like Donald Trump. But I’m sure all of us will miss the many great Obama impressions that have come out of these last eight years.
First up is Jordan Peele of Key & Peele, who has the authoritative Obama voice and hand gestures down pat, made especially funny when he mimics a high, but always together Obama in college: “Apartheid is totally gnarly. It’s a gnarly institution.”
Next we have Alphacat, a YouTube star who puts Obama in music videos for songs like Drake’s “Back to Back” and Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.” His impression isn’t as technically good, but it’s pretty funny to see someone as “Obama” doing the “Single Ladies” dance or rapping about how “I had two terms/They went back to back.”
And then there’s Saturday Night Live. Jay Pharaoh does a great Obama impression, Fred Armisen’s leaves a lot to be desired, and Dana Carvey does a very Dana Carvey impression of 44.
But don’t listen to me — it’s up to you, the People, to decide who does the best Obama impression.
