This clip has made the rounds for a day or two, but I figured it was important enough to bring to your attention. In a gag reminiscent of the Drunk Jeff Goldblum meme, Conan used the much publicized video of President Obama taking a sip of Guiness while in Ireland, then slowed down the footage of him giving a speech to make him sound drunk. It’s an incredibly simple premise, but piping hot damn it made me laugh.

Not to beat a oft-repeated point into the ground, but take note, comedy writers. This whole clip clocks in at 39 seconds. Intro, setup, punchline. Boom. Not every piece of comedy needs to be that short, but in general, erring on the side of brevity tends to produce better results than, say, a six-minute sketch where the same, one-note joke is repeated ad nauseum. I’m not singling anyone out here. I could be talking about any comedy show. Any comedy show that’s on Saturday nights. Any comedy show that’s on Saturday nights and is aired live. Any comedy show that’s on Saturday nights, is aired live, is on a network whose logo is a peacock, and rhymes with Caturday Tight Jive. Again… anyone.

Related: If someone makes a show called “Caturday Tight Jive” where cats do choreographed dance routines, I would watch it so many times my cable box would melt.
