One of the great dynamics in Veep is Selina Meyer’s “non-romantic romance” with Gary, as demonstrated in the above supercut put together by the New York Times. Selina and Gary’s relationship can best be described as something like a cross between boss and employee, husband and wife, and mother and son, with a good dose of Buster and Lucille thrown into the mix (which makes sense, given that Tony Hale plays both characters).
Gary needs Selina just as much, if not more than she needs him, which will be interesting given that Season 4 is said to involve a subplot of Gary “struggling to stay relevant in the West Wing.” I just know those two crazy kids can’t stay apart for too long, though.
