Fox and Friends spent Sunday morning getting worked up over Captain America. Or rather, the show’s panel is upset by the newest incarnation of Cap. This new Cap, of course, is Sam Wilson (a.k.a. The Falcon), who was introduced during a June 2014 episode of The Colbert Report. Now that The Falcon has officially taken the shield, a new video from a right-wing think tank stirred the pot over the comic’s new threat, the Supreme Serpent.
Co-host Clayton Morris summarizes the issue as a PR stunt from Marvel, who is allegedly “struggling for readership.” Morris, who is fine with being labelled as the resident comic-book expert, says Cap used to do commendable things, like go up against Red Skull and HYDRA. But his new enemy — according to Morris and the aforementioned video — is the conservative party. Tucker Carlson then asks the following question:
“Who is this Serpent? Is he an Islamic extremist, an ISIS member bent upon destroying western civilization? NO. The Serpent is an American who has misgivings upon unlimited illegal immigration and the costs associated with it. That, according to the comic book, is evil.”
As Morris reminisces over the good old days when Cap was “punching Hitler in the face,” Anna Koolman comes up with an idea. She suggests that Marvel (or anyone) should write a comic book about “the people working the border to keep us safe.” Well, that’s an interesting thought, but we’ve already got a real-life comic playing that role already. His name is Donald Trump.
