Things didn’t end well for the Tyrells during Game of Thrones season six. Margaery, Loras, and Mace were all killed in the destruction of the Great Sept of Baelor, leaving only Olenna behind. Thankfully, she’s one tough thorn.
In the finale, Lady Olenna, overcome with emotion over the death of her loved ones, meets with Ellaria Sand in Dorne to seek “vengeance and justice” against Cersei Lannister. Also in attendance: Varys, signifying a pact has been made between the Tyrells and Targaryens against the Lannisters.
But before all that bloodshed, back in episode two, Olenna and Mace were still scheming against Cersei while being escorted around King’s Landing in a palanquin. You might not remember the scene — which involves the two Tyrells joining Cersei’s small council to free Margaery and Loras from the holy clutches of the High Sparrow — because it never made the show. It’s only being released now as a deleted scene from the season six DVD and Blu-ray, which comes out Nov. 15. According to Entertainment Weekly, “the release includes four deleted scenes, an in-depth look at the making of the Battle of the Bastards, and other extras and audio commentaries.” Also of note: “Thrones has been the top-selling TV series on home video for the past five years.” Nothing says Christmas present like a bastard being eaten alive by dogs.
