George Clooney is set to appear in a Downton Abbeythemed Christmas special for the UK’s ITV network later this month, which was probably how those rumors originated last spring that Clooney was going to be getting married at Downton Abbey. The first teaser has now arrived, which shows Lady Cora telling Lord Grantham, who has his back turned to her, “Lord and Lady Carlisle have asked us over for dinner tonight.” Only when he turns around — SURPRISE, MOTHERF*CKERS — it’s George Clooney! Who is not even remotely dressed in the attire of the early 20th century!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the clip is part of a full sketch which will air during the special as part of ITV’s “Text Santa” charity drive on December 18th. The rest of us will have to wait until the video surfaces online to see what kind of wacky hijinks George Clooney is going to get into with the Grantham family.
