Late last night, Fox debuted a new Bruce Wayne-centric teaser for their Batman prequel TV show, Gotham (full trailer here, overwhelmingly positive early reviews here). The video is set to a voicover by Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), who informs Bruce (David Mazouz) that “there will be light”, although that promise is juxtaposed with a scene of the young Wayne standing precariously on a ledge. Gee, I wonder if he’ll live. Hopefully Batman will save him…
TVLine reports that Fox has also cast instantly-recognizable but underrated character actor Carol Kane as Gertrud Kapelput, mother to the Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor). She’ll be in several episodes, starting with the second one, and is being described as “a proud and faded beauty with delusions of grandeur”. Look out, Fox, or Lindsay Lohan might sue you.
Gotham airs Mondays at 8/7c this Fall on FOX.
