If there’s one thing there will never be enough of when it comes to NBC’s Parks and Recreation, it’s glimpses into the life and family history of the show’s greatest occasional character, Jean-Ralphio Saperstein. And via Ben Schwartz himself (with the assist by The Hollywood Reporter) comes the best news of the evening – Jean-Ralphio’s father will be played by none other than Henry Winkler, AKA Arthur Fonzarelli.
According to THR, we can expect both Winkler and Schwartz to show up in the first episode of Season 6, and while there’s no word on whether or not Mona Lisa Saperstein (Jenny Slate) will join them, let’s just go ahead and assume she’ll be there. And if showrunner Michael Schur and the Parks and Rec writers are reading this like I pray at night that they do, I’ll just go ahead and throw Fran Drescher’s name in the mix for Jean-Ralphio’s mom. That just feels right.
Anyway, it’s pretty ridiculous how excited I get for P&R news these days, so I fully expect NBC to do something horrible like moving the Season 6 debut to 2015 in order to debut a new show like, Single Bro Dad Lawyers, starring Wilmer Valderrama and Tito Ortiz. But I’ll try to remain positive for the time being.
