Here’s a promo for “In the Flow,” a new sketch comedy show starring Affion Crockett that will debut in August. Crockett, who was an occasional bright spot on the otherwise wretched “Wild ‘n Out” with Nick Cannon, got the starring role thanks to producer Jamie Foxx, who seems to be looking to replicate the show that launched his career, “In Living Color.” But “In the Flow” doesn’t seem to have the same pedigree or studio backing that “In Loving Color” enjoyed:
Starring Crockett (“The Boondocks”), the show was first announced last September as an untitled project from former “In Living Color” co-star Foxx — and that project itself replaced an earlier Foxx-in-development pilot that went dead.
Subsequently, a preview and official premiere scheduled for March and June, respectively were also postponed. But now, the Fox(x)es are ready to go. [Variety]
Not exactly a ringing endorsement. I wonder what the final pitch from Jamie Foxx was. “Okay, it’ll be like ‘Chappelle’s Show,’ but seven years too late, less edgy, and with a less established and less funny comic.” Would it really be so hard for Fox to just air reruns of “Arrested Development”?
