On last night’s Daily Show, Jon Stewart covered a disturbing trend: millennials from Western societies are flocking to join ISIS. But just like the characters on HBO’s Girls, ISIS millennials begin to feel disillusioned and apathetic once they’re established within the organization, complaining about their healthcare, the duties they’re assigned to, and even that the lifestyle itself conflicts with their creature comforts. Or as Stewart puts it, “The people ISIS are recruiting will do anything to advance the cause of establishing eternal Islamist caliphate … Unless their iPods break.”
It’s a relief to know that, while millennials might be dooming us as a society, they might actually be taking ISIS down with them.
