Back in July, the word on the street was that Judd Apatow was developing a television series called Love that would star Gillian Jacobs, and that Hulu was the frontrunner to pick it up. Turns out most of that ended up being true. The only difference: Netflix swooped in and snagged the show, giving it a two-season commitment (10 episodes in Season 1, 12 in Season 2).
Sayeth Deadline:
Love follows Gus (Paul Rust) and Mickey (Jacobs) as they navigate the exhilaration and humiliations of intimacy, commitment, and other things they were hoping to avoid. “Judd Apatow has a unique comedic voice that manages to be delightful, insightful, and shockingly frank — often at the same time,” said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos.
The series will be executive produced by Apatow, Rust, Brooklyn Nine-Nine writer Leslie Arfin, and The Office veteran Brent Forrester, and is set to debut in 2016. So, no, it will not interfere with Jacobs’s role on Community. Everybody relax. Again.
More importantly, when you tell people about this show, I recommend phrasing it “Judd Apatow and Gillian Jacobs are making Love on Netflix in 2016.” They won’t be able to see the italics if you do it out loud. It’ll be hilarious.
