Bringing New Yorker cartoons to life on stage sounds like a fun concept, and it works in this Late Night sketch. The problem is how bad I feel for smart people who “read” The New Yorker and believe these cartoons pass as comedy.
Where’s Garfield? Anyone seen Marmaduke? How about Hagar The Horrible? Not classy enough for The New Yorker? Jim Davis is sleeping on a bed made from living people right now thanks to Garfield, so you tell me who’s the smart one!
In all seriousness, how about a live version of The Far Side instead? That’s a stage show I’d pay good money to see.
