Back in 2013, fans of classic TV sitcoms got a good laugh out of one Etsy shop’s custom Golden Girls Lego figurines, and at least 25 people ended up bringing little yellow Rose Nylunds into their homes. Now, another aspiring Lego artist is close to bringing an actual Golden Girls Lego set into stores everywhere, as a person going by “lostsleep” has entered his/her creation into the Lego Ideas program.
For a quick refresher, the Ideas program allows Lego fans to create their own sets and submit them for consideration by the Lego-loving community. If you’re lucky enough to gather 10,000 votes, then the Lego Review Board, or the Grand Master Builders as they should be called, will decide whether or not your set will become a reality. So, will lostsleep’s Golden Girls set be that fortunate? Probably. It already has 2,978 votes with 343 days remaining in the voting process. I give it… oh, let’s guesstimate… until the end of today before it has 10,000.
What will be included in this set if it is created and why should you vote for it?
This is a recreation of the Golden Girls House used in filming the popular 1980’s show that is still watched daily around the world. It is the Foyer, Living Room, and Kitchen built like a TV set, with one wall removed and a full view into the space. It comes with 5 minifigures including Dorothy, Rose, Sophia, Blanche, and Stanley. It has been meticulously recreated to have opening cupboards and fridge in the kitchen, Wicker Sofa and Chairs, a hallway backdrop, a storage closet in the kitchen, and an outdoor area with potted plants and a hose.
I have recreated many classic scenes from the show, including a visit from Burt Reynolds, Rose shooting Blanche’s Vase, Dorothy Playing “Grab That Dough” and Rose rescuing her Teddy Bear from a mean little girl.
STOP! You had me at Lego Burt Reynolds. Let’s make this a reality ASAP, fellow adult Lego lovers.
