HBO has signed comedy folk music act Garfunkel and Oats (Kate Micucci and Riki Lyndhome) to a development deal. You can read all about it over at Variety, if you can tolerate the publication’s idiotic lingo:
Micucci and Lindhome are writing the pilot with thesp-helmer Richie Keen (“Important Things With Demetri Martin”). There are also plans to develop a Web component, should the series be greenlit.
I think this could work, as long as they do two things: (1) No rapping. And (2) an overly enthusiastic stalker fan. Is there a male version of Kristen Schaal? I vote for Eugene Mirman or John Hodgman. Or Jim Gaffigan. Or Patton Oswalt. Man, there are a lot of creepy-looking male comics out there.
