Someone decided to place funny quotes from Parks and Recreation on screenshots from the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, and the results are pretty uncanny. For instance, it now makes perfect sense that the silly, materialistic Lydia Bennett has a lot in common with the silly, materialistic Tom Haverford.
Although in 19th Century England, Lydia would die rather than admit that her love for Wickham had faded away.
There are also some surprising juxtapositions. You’d think that Darcy would get the Ben Wyatt treatment (couldn’t you imagine Darcy being a Game of Thrones fanboy?), but surprisingly, his pride works well with some choice Andy Dwyer quotes as well:
As a testament to the legend of Ron Swanson, his quotes pretty much involve the personalities and emotions of every Pride and Prejudice character:
Finally Mary gets her moment under the sun.
What does all of this say about Parks and Recreation, or Pride and Prejudice? That they’re both timeless works of art? Probably. One thing’s for sure: both shows revolved around the healthy, supportive female friendship of the smart, outspoken and determined Leslie Knope/Elizabeth Bennett, and her pretty but criminally boring friend/sister Ann Perkins/Jane Bennett.
Oh Tumblr, you opalescent tree shark.
