After the media circus surrounding her racial identity, former Spokane NAACP president Rachel Dolezal will finally speak out for herself. Tomorrow morning, Dolezal will take part in a live interview on NBC’s The Today Show and answer questions from host Matt Lauer. In addition to her morning appearance, she will also sit down with Savannah Guthrie of NBC Nightly News and MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry.
Aside from her resignation statement today and a knee-jerk defense that raised even more questions, Dolezal has not addressed the media or spoken in public. Yet more and more stories keep breaking about the years she’s been living as a black woman — like how she sued Howard University for discriminating against her for being white — that make her seem even more mysterious. It’s clear that Dolezal has been backed into a corner and has a lot to answer for.
