Ronda Rousey’s mixed martial arts career might be relatively short compared to old guns like UFC heavyweight Josh Barnett, who has been fighting professionally since 1997. But her judo career started at 11, and it wasn’t long before she put those skills to use in the streets, fighting people for spending money. Here’s what she told Sports Illustrated about that period of her life:
“I was around fourteen years old. And I thought I was hot sh*t, badass, right? And I felt like this secret, blonde, Beverly Hills Ninja. And I loved Frappuccinos. Me and my friend Jackie, after school, we would walk over to the Promenade, and Jackie was like my Paul Heyman. She would be like, ‘I bet my girl right here could beat you up for $10, or $5, or whatever.’ And then some guy would be like, ‘Ehh, whatever. I’ll take that bet.’ It would just start, and whatever the guy was, I would throw him to the ground, either give him a choke or an arm bar. We would get him to say he gave up, then take his money and go buy Frappuccinos. Those were my first pro fights. Will fight for Frappuccinos.”
These incidents weren’t Rousey’s only taste of fighting outside the cage. She also has a story about the time she took on four guys and their girlfriends in a movie theater and tossed them all over the place (which you can watch at the top of this post).
Rousey has no problem taking world class athletes and defeating them in under a minute. You almost feel bad for the normies with no formal training stepping in to fight her. Then again, anyone willing to participate in random parking lot fights with a 14-year-old girl at the mall probably deserves what they get. Maybe every mall in America needs a honeypot like that to weed out the scumbags. It’d be like a spin on To Catch a Predator, but the guy gets punched in the face and judo-thrown.
I know I’d watch that TV show.
