Hooray! Veep is finally back this Sunday, April 12 (along with new Games of Thrones and Silicon Valley), and this season, we finally get to see President Selena Meyer take control of the White House while fighting for reelection over her competition, Danny Chung and George Maddox. HBO screened the first two episodes last night for critics, and Decider was on hand to let us know what we can expect from Season 4.
“Joint Session,” chronicles the days leading up to Selina’s first major speech as president after succeeding the always illusive former President Hughes after his wife attempted suicide.
As Selina preps her speech with Mike (Matt Walsh), Gary (Tony Hale) is struggling to stay relevant in the West Wing, while Jonah (Timothy Simons) gets more than he bargained for in his new position working for the Vice President’s office alongside Teddy (Patton Oswalt).
Oswalt told Entertainment Weekly earlier this year that playing “the guy Jonah thinks is an a–hole” would be his dream role, but we haven’t had any confirmation until now. This is excellent news. Patton Oswalt does nerdy obnoxious like few others, just thinking back to his guest spots on Parks and Recreation and Reno 911, so I can only imagine the gloriously annoying chemistry he and Tim Simons’ Jonah will have together.
If they don’t murder each other, that is.
