None of us are under the impression that local news writing is particularly clever or inspired, but Conan O’Brien’s recurring segment busting local news anchors across the country for using the same contrived line when intro-ing the same contrived story over and over is becoming a serious indictment of whatever the hell is your mom is subjecting herself to every night.
Honestly, I’m fairly amazed how long this goes on. Like, not even mad I’m so amazed. As our friends at AV Club note, there are plenty of reasons why this phenomenon takes place, but that doesn’t make this any less painful to watch.
