Yesterday, we mentioned that Robert Durst, the subject of HBO’s suddenly buzzed about documentary The Jinx, had been arrested “in connection to a murder in Los Angeles from 15 years ago.” Many suspected that last night’s series finale was somehow connected to the detainment; you wouldn’t be wrong for thinking so.
You should just watch the entire episode/season to get the whole story, because it’s great television. But if you’re more of an instant gratification person, here’s last night’s big reveal: at one point during an important interview with director Andrew Jarecki, Durst walked to the bathroom, and with his microphone still on, said the following:
“There it is. You’re caught. You’re right, of course. But you can’t imagine. Arrest him. I don’t know what’s in the house. Oh, I want this. What a disaster. He was right. I was wrong. And the burping. I’m having difficulty with the question. What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course.”
He’s guilty of at least one thing: not singing “Walking on Sunshine” while in the can like a normal person. Here’s the damning moment:
