Yes, Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is one of the best comedies on television, and most of its praise belongs to star Ellie Kemper and creator Tina Fey. Yet there never would have been an Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt in the first place without Tituss Burgess, who plays Titus Andromedon. Is the character’s name in the title? No, it isn’t, but that doesn’t mean the former faux Iron Man can’t be, and usually isn’t, the star of the series — as well as the rest of the internet. From savage Yelp reviews to a special brand of Pinot Noir, Burgess is simply the best.
Hence why it should come as no surprise that the actor’s Facebook post celebrating the birth of Kemper’s son is so wonderful. “My Ellie had her baby. A son. But why am I emotional,” he wrote Monday afternoon. “He’s not mine. Also someone is gonna call her mom. I cannot wrap my head around it.”
The short 125-word post is rife with hilarious goodies detailing Burgess and Kemper’s professional and personal relationships. Yet the best part comes towards the end, when in a moment of pure Andromedon-ness, Burgess recalls one of the first things he said to Kemper on set:
[On] the first day of filming i looked her square in the eyes and I said “bitch..dont get pregnant cause I dont have time for it.” She laughed and said trust i wont…I feel such betrayal and happiness.
Wonderful.
