As far as Halloween specials go, they don’t get much more amazing/awful than The Worst Witch, HBO’s 1986 TV movie about Mildred Hubble, a terrible, well-meaning student at Miss Cackle’s Academy for Witches. But who cares about plot when you’ve got Tim Curry as the Grand Wizard (unfortunate) singing a song called “Anything Can Happen On Halloween” in front of some terrible green screen action. It makes It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown look like black cat vomit by comparison. This post is dedicated to Curry and how anything goes on Halloween — a toad could be hanging out in your bass guitar, for instance. I HATE it when that happens.
