Did you know that Will Ferrell — who got on Saturday Night Live in the mid-’90s by virtue of his improv work with The Groundlings — tried his hand at stand-up comedy initially? I honestly did not, and after getting a taste of his act (and recalling his iconic term on SNL), it seems pretty clear that Ferrell made the right decision when he chose improv instead.
But while singing the Star Trek theme isn’t top-level stand-up material, one has to show Ferrell ample respect for the aurally pleasing rendition that he unleashed last night on The Late Late Show with, I think it’s fair to say, a little bit of echo-wizardry from bandleader Reggie Watts. Frankly, I’m charged up and ready for space-based adventure now, how about you?
