Mockingbird Lane (NBC, Friday 8 p.m.) — NBC pulled the plug on Bryan Fuller’s remake of The Munsters featuring Portia de Rossi and Eddie Izzard, but they’re burning off the pilot tonight ahead of Halloween. It’s unlikely, even if it’s well-received and high-rated, that NBC will reconsider, but you never know, right? If you have nothing better to do with your Friday night, it’s certainly worth a look see.
Fringe (Fox, Friday 9 p.m.) — Part of the reason I ended up skipping the fourth season during its live air and marathoning it over the summer is that Fox programs it so frustratingly intermittently. Two weeks on, one week off. Three weeks off, four weeks on. It’s a show that plays much better in marathons, especially this season, in which the entire 13 episodes is telling one story.
Hunted (Cinemax, Friday 10 p.m.) — Another shout-out to Cinemax’s new spy series (which I reviewed here). Melissa George, spy gadgets, cool action sequences, espionage, and sex scenes. Give it a shot if you have Cinemax.
Homeland (Showtime, Sunday 10 p.m.) — What the? How are they? But … where does it? SPOILER ALERT: This show is nuts.
Boardwalk Empire (Sunday, HBO 9 p.m.) — This season of Boardwalk Empire has been completely overshadowed by Homeland so far, but as my colleague over on Pajiba wrote today, “Not So Fast, Homeland: Boardwalk Empire Is Where the Real Crazy Is At.” I still miss Jimmy, though.
The Walking Dead (AMC, Sunday 9 p.m.) — Two for two this season. Will the streak end with the third episode? I doubt it. It’s heavily focused on Michonne, and Merle reappears. If Rafi from The League and Merle compared crazy, who would win?
Sunday Night Football (NBC, Sunday 8:20) — Saints vs. Broncos? Putting a game this good up against the Sunday night dramas just isn’t fair. Programmers are determined to ensure that some of us never sleep again. Take lots of naps during the afternoon game and pull an all-nighter. That’s the only advice I have.
