Jennifer Lafleur is an actress probably best known for her appearances in Duplass brothers films like the Do-Deca Pentathlon, Jeff Who Lives At Home and Baghead. You may have also seen her in the first season of Andy Daly’s brilliant Comedy Central show, Review, where she portrays a recurring character named “Alicia.” Currently, Jennifer is starring in Wedlock along with Rob Corddry, Mark Duplass and Katie Aselton. The ten-episode series (each episode is 5-6 minutes in length) premiered in its entirety on Vimeo On Demand on September 29th.
(I should note here that Jennifer and I are longtime friends and that she’s an absolutely lovely human being. I watched Game 7 of the 2004 ALCS with her, a Red Sox fan, at Brother Jimmy’s on New York’s Upper East Side. Disgruntled Yankees fans threw chicken wing bones at us, thus the headline. It was a night I’ll probably never forget.)
Jennifer was nice enough to take a few minutes out of her busy schedule recently to answer a few questions from us.
1. You walk into a bar. What do you order from the bartender?
Anything wet. Probably whiskey. If I’m jumping around on top of the bar, probably tequila.
2. Who’s your favorite person to follow on Twitter?
@thetweetofgod Can you find out who runs that handle? Because I’d like to marry them.
3. What’s currently waiting for you on your DVR/TiVO?
A bunch of funny shows with wonderful people in them (Married, Maron, Review, Parenthood, Mindy Project, New Girl, League, Kroll Show, etc), The Voice, some embarrassingly entertaining incarnation of the Bachelor show, and the Ken Burns Roosevelt documentary series.
4. It’s your last meal — what are you going out with?
Pearl Oyster Bar’s lobster roll. Eaten at the bar with a glass of Prosecco and shoestring fries. Kill me before I leave the stool because that’s my happy place.
5. What websites do you visit on a regular basis?
Twitter, Facebook, NYTimes, CNN. Fluff, friends and facts.
6. What’s the most frequently played song on your iPod?
“Low” by Flo Rida (true story)
7. The first face that comes to mind when you think “punchable”?
Anyone that doesn’t use their damn blinker on the road, or scrapes their teeth against the fork while eating.
8. What’s your favorite meme?
Does the “Apparently Kid” count as a meme? Cause I could watch him all day.
9. Dogs or cats?
Sure.
10. Best concert of your life was…?
Probably the Christmas Concert in 3rd grade where they gave me a solo and I shined oh so bright for a full 6 seconds.
11. What book are you most likely to give as a gift?
My Heart Is An Idiot because Davy Rothbart is made of all the magical things of the world and knows how to tell a darn good story
12. What’s the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?
Put up with my bullshit and still pretend I’m a delightfully sunny and happy person.
13. South Park or Family Guy?
Am I going to get attacked if I admit I have never watched either?
14. You have an entire day to do whatever you want. What would you do?
I would like to sit on the floor of my living room watching movies and pasting all sorts of sentimental stuff like ticket stubs, newspaper clippings, and cards from restaurants I had great meals at with friends, into big books so I know that I was alive and did stuff and can feel ok about the world.
15. What movie can you not resist watching if it’s on?
Pride and Prejudice. Any version. Gets me every time. I’m already crying.
16. What’s your favorite sports team or teams?
Boston everything.
17. Where did you eat the best meal of your life?
Aforementioned Pearl Oyster Bar is #1 in my heart, but I love me a Shake Shack cheeseburger with a deep and passionate fervor, and anything eaten at my sister and her husband’s table is heaven. Also this past weekend, we celebrated a friends birthday at LA CHAPTER at The Ace Hotel and we ordered one of everything on the menu and passed it all around the table, which makes me so happy because I always have food envy at restaurants. I love food. I’m hungry.
18. The last movie you saw in a theater?
Boyhood. Still thinking about it.
19. Who was your first celebrity crush?
Joey MacIntyre from New Kids On The Block and Fred Savage from Wonder Years. I had posters of them both tacked to the wall next to my bed and would kiss them goodnight each and every evening.
20. What would you cook if Nic Cage was coming to your house for dinner?
Something tasty– but that you have to eat with your fingers. I don’t want to see him use a fork and knife. I want to watch him tear into things with his bare hands and lick the remnants off at the end of dinner.
Here’s the trailer for Wedlock…
