There are many ways to show love for your partner. It doesn’t have to be something big, like driving 800 miles for chicken. No, sometimes it is the little moments that make the biggest impact. Indiana man Matt Sanders is taking the small gesture/huge meaning route with his wife, Libby, who lost her pinky in a freak accident this year.
The mother of five was painting her nails this weekend, when she was reminded of the accident when she reached the missing finger. However, Matt decided to step in to make his wife feel better. Libby wrote in a viral Facebook post:
“I was painting my nails and made a comment that I forget I don’t have to paint my pinky nail on my left hand. I simply forget that I lost my pinky, but it is always kind of a bummer when I am reminded. Matt said “I will be your surrogate pinky. You can paint my pinky to match your nails for the rest of our lives.”
A lot of guys would consider such a gesture to be an attack on their masculinity, but Matt seemed to take it in stride. Libby told the Huffington Post that this kindness was just par for the course with marriage to Matt.
“It was such a sweet gesture. But it didn’t surprise me. It’s who he is. He is such a kind, caring man and he is always doing things like this for me. This is only one of 10 million things he has done to show me how much he loves me.”
It’s easy to be cynical about such public displays of affection, but it’s hard to crap on these two. I think they’ve got this love thing figured out.
