When Jenna Dewan-Tatum was cast as Lucy Lane, we noted it was going to be a little weird that Lucy was around, but her sister Lois wasn’t. And that just got weirder with the fact that they’ve also cast 24‘s Glenn Morshower as Lois’ father, General Sam Lane. There’s a large, Lois Lane-shaped hole forming in this show, and it makes you wonder if Lois herself won’t show up.
DC’s policy, to this point, has largely been that anybody who is already in a movie or might possibly be in one is off-limits to their rapidly growing portfolio of TV series. But that seemingly only applies to superheroes; Amanda Waller has both film and TV counterparts, for example. And, so far, we not only have pretty much Lois’ entire immediate family in the show, but also two of her former coworkers, Jimmy Olsen and Cat Grant.
Similarly, it would be kind of hard to argue Lois wouldn’t be sniffing around. Depending on where we are in the Superman continuity, either she’s actively trying to discover who Superman is or she knows exactly who he is and is helping him out. And it’s not like Kara couldn’t use an experienced journalist as a mentor.
It’s unlikely Lois will be part of the main cast. But considering DC’s push to have Lois be her own character, don’t be surprised if she turns up in National City just in time for sweeps.
