Hillary Clinton has been making several appearances with some of pop culture’s most recognizable names, including Amy Schumer, Lena Dunham, and Ellen DeGeneres (and fine, Kim Kardashian). Her next stop: Studio 8H at 30 Rockefeller Center for the season premiere of Saturday Night Live hosted by Miley Cyrus. The Democratic presidential candidate will be making a cameo appearance and, yes, it was supposed to be a surprise. However, when you are a former First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State in addition to being a current presidential candidate, it’s hard to hide from your security detail.
It won’t be Clinton’s first appearance; she famously showed up during her 2008 campaign to interrupt Amy Poehler’s impersonation. Though that, according to Vanity Fair, only happened after Clinton backed out once, then saw that a cameo seemed to play pretty well for her primary opponent at the time, Barack Obama. Since then, Clinton has had a much easier time winning people over when she isn’t running for something, but after all those years and all those Tumblrs, there’s a good chance that she’ll be a lot less stiff this time around.
Plus, Clinton will probably get to play alongside her current impersonator, Kate McKinnon. Will this appearance play better than the last one, which was cute, but kinda forced? Let’s hope so, and let’s hope she breaks out some email jokes. She probably has tons.
