Another day, another record broken by a member of the Walking Dead family.
The season five premiere of The Walking Dead obliterated everyone. Then, the season five finale was its highest-rated in series history. Then, Fear the Walking Dead broke the record for the highest-rated premiere in cable history. Now, Fear the Walking Dead is also officially the most-watched freshman series in cable history. (Every sentence about The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead end with “… in cable history.”) According to a press release:
With its season one ending last Sunday, Fear the Walking Dead now stands as the highest-rated initial season of any series in cable history across total viewers and all key demos in live+3 ratings, which include three days of time shifted viewing. In its first season of six episodes, Fear the Walking Dead averaged 11.2 million viewers, 7.3 million adults 18-49, and 7.2 million adults 25-54 in live+3. (Via)
Oh yeah, and AMC is the home of the “top three cable series season debuts ever”: The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, and Better Call Saul. No wonder they took a chance on a third season of Halt and Catch Fire, although they may want to change the title to Halt and Catch Zombie.
