Boston College’s Loss To Wake Forest Featured One Of The Most Embarrassing Endings Ever

Pray for Boston College fans. Those poor, poor souls who were strong-willed enough to watch the end of their game between BC and Wake Forest – even though the Eagles were losing 3-0 late into the fourth quarter – were rewarded with the mother of all stomach punches.

After an entire game of being stymied on offense, BC managed to work the ball all the way near the goal line with time running down. Then they fumbled, and gave it away.

Oh well. Guess it just wasn’t meant to be, right? Even if Wake Forest couldn’t get the first down they needed to run out the clock, a punt would leave only a Hail Mary try. But wait! Out of nowhere, Wake fumbled the ball right back! The miracle the Eagles needed!

At worst, now BC was in line for a tying field goal. With 19 seconds left, all they had to do was maybe take a couple shots at the end zone, and throw it away if it wasn’t there. Or they could run the ball, I guess, if they were really sure they could make it.

Okay, so they didn’t make it. Probably the wrong move. But at least they could just make it to the line to run one more desperation play… NO, DON’T SPIKE IT YOU FOOL!

They spiked it with no time on the clock. The game was over. BC coach Steve Addazio didn’t take it well.

It’s hard to blame him. Eagles fans all over, if they were unlucky enough to be holding something when the game ended (again, a 3-0 defeat), that thing was probably destroyed. Poor BC.
