The Rock’s ‘Baywatch’ Movie Has Found Its Pamela Anderson

The Rock promised that his Baywatch movie will be “big, fun, and RATED R… like me when I drink,” which sounds great and all. But there’s no way it’ll be the best Baywatch movie. That honor goes to the direct-to-video classic, Baywatch the Movie: Forbidden Paradise, which my favorite reviewer, Some Guy on Amazon, called “the Citizen Kane of the nineties.” The new Baywatch will have to settle for being the The Lady from Shanghai of the 2010s.

Even if it doesn’t have Pamela Anderson’s ample support. Last year, she said, “It was charming on television, and when you make a TV show [into] a movie, I think it loses some of its charm.” The Stripperella (can’t believe that was never turned into a film, not that Anderson would be interested) star also added that “no one” could play her character, C.J. Parker.

Well, this is awkward.

Model-actress [Kelly Rohrbach] has nabbed the plum role of C.J. Parker in Baywatch, Paramount’s big-screen take on the 1990s television series about California lifeguards that star Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron. (Via)

The Rock plays a serious, plays-by-the-rules lifeguard who’s forced to work with Efron’s rebel without a cause (or shirt) “to save their beach from environmental destruction at the hands of an oil tycoon.” Timely. Alexandra Daddario’s in there somewhere, too. If Rohrbach, who’s posed for Sports Illustrated and recently dated Leonardo DiCaprio, is playing C.J., does that mean the movie takes place in the same universe as the show? If so, is Gigli still around, too? I like the idea of watching The Rock and Daddario run around in bathing suits for 90 minutes, but that Gigli thing is kind of a deal breaker.

We demand answers. Oily, slow-mo answers.
