While we marvel at Dirk Nowitzki’s luscious, flowing locks, other NBA players are just as recognizable for their lack of hair. But what if those very players, like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, were given the outrageous hairdos of some other athletes? ESPN published a piece attempting to answer that exact question, superimposing incredible hair on MJ and company. The results are fairly funny if not a little predictable:

The pictures work because it plays to the inherent comedy in extremes. All of these athletes had hair at one point or another, but their hairstyles weren’t anything that would draw an insane reaction.
LeBron and Jordan preferred a close crop, Kobe once had an afro, and Barkley was always partial to the shaved-head look.
Let’s be thankful these guys never tried out any insane hairstyles. It’s best to leave that to Iman Shumpert and Chris Andersen.
