The NFL’s “Color Rush” games last season featured some rather, shall we say, bold uniform combinations. The ketchup and mustard game, better knowns as Tampa Bay vs. St. Louis, was perhaps the boldest of them all. It’s ironic, then, that Dallas’ color rush uniforms were essentially void of color. The all-white unis (pictured above) were a slick look, but not exactly the definition of a “color rush.” Apparently, we’re not the only ones who think that.
Ted Hyman, who works at 247Sports, designed a couple of concept jerseys for the Cowboys more in the spirit of a color rush. Below is an image for an all-blue uniform:
And a black uniform:
The whole “blackout” concept has become an alternate uniform cliche. The San Francisco 49ers introduced that to their uni combos last year. The all blues are sweet, though; that’s a hard color to mess up. Even Carolina’s all blues were outstanding when they played Dallas last season:

Looking back, the Carolina-Dallas game was easily the best combination in the “Color Rush” series. Buffalo-New York Jets looked like a tacky Christmas sweater party:
The Jaguars’ all gold uniforms last year didn’t exactly receive favorable reviews, either:

When it comes to altering NFL uniforms, the results aren’t always great. Fans may buy the jersey for apparel purposes, and that’s what clothing companies are really concerned about, but there can be a lot of backlash as well for more traditional looks. To be sure, the Cowboys concept unis would look legit if Nike actually did them.
