Busting might make us feel good, but sharing does not, so there are going to be two Ghostbusters movies: Paul Feig’s live-action film, starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate “Great” McKinnon, and Leslie Jones, and an animated version that should look exactly like ABC’s The Real Ghostbusters series.
Or my childhood is ruined.
The Ghostbusters Movie Without Nagging Women Ruining the Fun, as it’s known online, took one step closer to actually happening when Sony Pictures Animation announced that Fletcher Moules signed on to direct the film. You might know his work from those ubiquitous Clash of Clans commercials, which he directed, or not, because you’re probably not up to date on video game ad directors. But hey, Ivan Reitman is also onboard as a producer. Plus:
The studio is already in development on a movie that would potentially star Channing Tatum with Joe and Anthony Russo, the duo behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier, to produce and direct it. (Via)
With Han Solo, Princess Leia, Admiral Ackbar, and Nien Nunb all appearing in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I think it’s only fair that the Ghostbusters animated movie asks Dave Coulier — last seen doing his Yosemite impression to a box of green Twinkies — to voice Peter Venkman again.
You can’t cut. him. out. of the profits.
