These Ninja Turtles Behind Home Plate At The Yankees Game Are Definitely ‘Last Week Tonight’ Fans

On Sunday’s episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, the show’s host announced a contest designed to shine a light on the elitist Legends Club seats at Yankee Stadium — dress like a weirdo and Oliver will sell you two tickets behind home plate for 25 cents apiece.

It appears two young men dressed as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles won the contest for Opening Day.

The YES broadcast team (that’s the only broadcast I get) hasn’t mentioned them, because if they did, they stumble into a conversation about the contest and why it’s happening. That shouldn’t prevent the Houston local broadcast or ESPN broadcast to highlight them, because it’s two guys dressed as Ninja Turtles right behind home plate.

It’s sort of tame, but you have to consider the situation. If they were wearing, for example, penis costumes, they wouldn’t get into the stadium, never mind to their seats. That’s what makes dressing as Michelangelo and Donatello so genius; it draws attention to them without being offensive. Even if you don’t know about the Last Week Tonight contest, it’s still funny.

For instance, if you go to a game in Kansas City, you can dress as a horse and construction worker if you feel like it.

There is pizza available at Yankee Stadium, so if these guys don’t spend a half-inning wolfing it down on camera, it will be a missed opportunity.

This contest also includes the final two games of the Astros-Yankees series, so it should be fun to see what else is coming.
