For the first time since 2000, the remaining members of N.W.A. will get up on stage and reunite. Unfortunately, they won’t be performing. Still, MC Ren, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and DJ Yella will be back together, accepting their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Kendrick Lamar.
Ice Cube spoke to the New York Times and quickly broke the hearts of millions, who just want to see one more performance, even without Eazy-E. We know Snoop Dogg has stood in as an (un)official member of N.W.A. before, and with Kendrick Lamar inducting them, few choices would be better to step in then King Kendrick.
But, it’s just not to be.
“Nah, we’re not performing. I guess we really didn’t feel like we were supported enough to do the best show we could put on,” Ice Cube said about the organizers. We wanted to do it on a whole other level, and that just couldn’t happen. But we’re totally honored, humbled and appreciative to the Hall for even just considering us, inducting us and inviting us.”
So does that mean that if they were to get back together, it would take some major support, and some big money to create a show so huge it would live up to one of the biggest reunions ever?
Maybe they could ask anyone they know if there’s a few hundred million bucks lying around to get this thing off the ground. Maybe a headphone and business mogul. Or maybe a doctor. Is there someone who fits that description in N.W.A.?
