It’s never too late to play tribute to Prince, especially if you are Oscar-winner Helen Mirren. The actress, along with her husband Taylor Hackford, were guests at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday, and Mirren decided to use the event — most notable for the jokes told by the host and the President, to pay tribute to the late, great musician.
Mirren wore a fancy purple dress, which is obviously the color most associated with Prince, but she took it a step further. How? By sporting what appeared to be a temporary tattoo on her chest, which was also in purple. The tat was of the symbol that Prince changed his name to in the ’90s.
While she may be a Dame, and may have won an Oscar for playing the Queen of England, Mirren is also a woman who has actual tattoos She’s even discussed her desire to get an entire sleeve tattoo of a snake. So this particular tribute to Prince is right up her alley. Prince’s symbol, which began as a form of protest against his record label Warner Brothers, has shown up all over the place in the wake of his death. Now you can add Helen Mirren’s body to the list.
