There will reportedly be a sequel to Space Jam, the 1995 movie that nostalgia and shoddy memories have convinced us was good when it was actually very, very bad. When Michael Jordan’s acting wasn’t making you regret having children that wanted to see the movie, Charles Barkley’s acting was accomplishing that 10 times over.
So during Monday night’s TNT studio show, they aired a clip to drive that point home.
.@SHAQ calls Chuck's acting in Space Jam "worser than Kazaam" 😂 (via @NBAonTNT)https://t.co/z4vT7Eoa3J

Shaquille O’Neal dropping a “worse than Kazaam” line is cruel and also untrue, as no professional athlete has ever been a worse actor than Shaq. The fact that Shaq, even though he is joking, doesn’t realize that makes you feel really bad for Shaq.
But that above clip is precisely why there is hope for Space Jam 2; LeBron James showed in Trainwreck that he can actually act. James isn’t at the level of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in Airplane, but he will be fine. Another reason why Space Jam 2 could be good: Kids’ movies today are all geared toward adults as well as kids, which wasn’t the case with Space Jam.
The Lego Movie. The Incredibles. Shrek. If Space Jam 2 follows the pattern of kids movies for adults and doesn’t ask Kevin Love to act in it, everything should be fine.
