Game of Thrones has dialed down on the, to quote Ian McShane, “tits and dragons” this season. Tits and Mother of Dragons, though? That’s a different story. During last night’s on fire episode, “The Book of Strangers,” Daenerys commanded the loyalty of thousands of Dothraki by killing some horny, sexist khals and walking out of a flaming hut. That’ll do it. A popular theory coming into the episode was that Dany’s loyal dragon Drogon would be the one to set the place on fire, but the Unburnt took matters into her own hands.
“It’s so exciting, very tingly-making,” Emilia Clarke told Entertainment Weekly about the scene. “Every season I get at least one spine-chilling moment. I just stand up and I go, ‘I’m hearing what you’re all saying, but funny thing, I’m going to kill you all.’ I forgot that I have an ace in my back pocket and now I win.” Clarke’s just happy this season’s “spine-chilling moment” didn’t involve eating a horse heart. It did, however, require the #FreeThePenis proponent, who was rumored to be the Game of Thrones actress who said, “I want to be known for my acting, not for my breasts,” to be naked.
“I’d like to remind people the last time I took my clothes off was season three,” she says. “That was awhile ago. It’s now season six. But this is all me, all proud, all strong. I’m just feeling genuinely happy I said ‘Yes.’ That ain’t no body double!” (Via)
This was no walk of shame for Daenerys — it was a walk of triumphant.
