The thing about skateboarding is that it has the potential to shift from a beautiful piece of art to a horrifying splattered canvas in the blink of an eye.
Take, for instance, this street skater. This guy is out here using nothing but his body and a piece of wood to create smooth, masterful lines of genius in natural urban environments. That in itself is amazing. But, as we’ve often seen, one wrong minor stroke and the entire thing — artwork and artist — can be ruined in a split second.
The thing about working in an urban concrete jungle is having to always assess and evaluate your surroundings to identify what is friend and what is foe. With this line in question, the staircase and its railing were allies, acting as the starting point to a run that would extend to the sidewalk and presumably end in the street.
Unfortunately, the skater failed to spot an oncoming car — one of the jungle’s predators — and he came shockingly close to skating straight into its jaws and being devoured. Thankfully, his instincts kicked in at the very last second and he was able to avoid becoming a victim.

Sure, this piece of art may have been spoiled, but at least he’ll live to paint another.
